The eligibility criteria for purchasing an electric vehicle (EV) through the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) canteen have been updated. Here are the detailed eligibility requirements based on rank and pay levels:
General Eligibility
- Service Requirement: Minimum of five years of service.
- Frequency of Purchase: There must be an eight-year gap between the purchase of two cars.
- Additional Benefits for EVs: Beneficiaries can purchase EVs costing up to ₹5 lakh more than the stipulated limits for their pay level.
Rank and Pay Level-Specific Criteria
Pay Levels 3A to 5
- Ranks: Sepoy, Lance Naik, Naik, Naik Subedar, AC, LAC, CPL, SGT, JWO, OS, LS, PO, CPO.
- Maximum Car Price: ₹8 lakh (excluding taxes); for EVs, the limit is ₹13 lakh.
- Purchase Limit: First car after five years of service; up to four cars in a lifetime.
- Gap Between Purchases: Eight years.
Pay Levels 6 to 9
- Ranks: Subedar, Subedar Major, WO, MWO, MCPO 2nd Class, MCPO 1st Class.
- Maximum Car Price: ₹10 lakh (excluding taxes); for EVs, the limit is ₹15 lakh.
- Purchase Limit: First car after five years of service; up to five cars in a lifetime.
- Gap Between Purchases: Eight years.
Pay Levels 10 to 18
- Ranks: Officer Grade and above.
- Maximum Car Price: ₹20 lakh (excluding taxes); for EVs, the limit is ₹25 lakh.
- Purchase Limit: Can buy a car at any time; one car every eight years.
- Gap Between Purchases: Eight years.
Serving and Retired Civilian Officers (Pay Levels 11 to 18)
- Maximum Car Price: ₹20 lakh (excluding taxes); for EVs, the limit is ₹25 lakh.
- Purchase Limit: One car every eight years.
- Gap Between Purchases: Eight years.
Additional Notes
- First-Time EV Buyers: Individuals opting for an EV for the first time can purchase their next vehicle after a reduced interval of six years, but subsequent purchases must follow the standard eight-year gap.
