What are the major causes of hairfall?

Hairfall is an act of hair falling out of the head. It is mostly caused by conditions like infections, genetic disorders, stress, and dieting. Scientists have found that hair loss may also be caused due to hormonal changes.

Hair loss usually occurs due to the following causes:

1. Medical conditions like alopecia, telogen effluvium, and chemotherapy

2. Birth defects like congenital trichorrhexis nodosa (CTN), hair loss syndrome (HL), and cicatricial alopecia

3. Hormonal changes like menopause, diabetes, thyroid disease, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)

4. Physical stress on the scalp such as high fever or severe headache

5. Medication side effects like chemotherapy drugs or hormonal contraceptives

What are the treatments for hair loss?

Hair loss is a common condition that affects people of all age groups. It can affect your self-confidence, since it’s difficult to hide hair loss during the most trying of times.

Unfortunately, there are no known cures for hair loss yet. However, there are treatments that can help alleviate the symptoms of hair loss and keep you feeling confident throughout your life.

Among these treatments are shampoos, supplements, surgeries and laser treatment for hair restoration.

What is hair restoration surgery?

Hair restoration surgery is a procedure in which hair follicles are transplanted from an area of the head that has abundant hair to an area of the head that lacks hair. It is typically done in cases of female pattern baldness and in some cases the effects of alopecia (hair loss).

Typically, there are two steps to this process: harvesting and transplantation. The first step consists of shaving the bald scalp with a special machine called a “scalp reduction” device. The second step involves extracting individual follicles from the donor site and then transplanting them into areas where they will be able to develop into healthy, natural-looking hair follicles.

How long does it take for a full head of transplanted hair to grow back?

Rapid hair growth for transplanted hair is a common but little-understood phenomenon. There are many reasons for this rapid regrowth – hormones, body systems, and other environmental factors.

While it takes about six weeks for a full head of healthy hair to grow back after a transplant, transplanted hair may grow back 48 hours after it has been removed from the donor site. It is not unusual to find that the amount of time it takes until you can see new growth varies depending on how sensitive your scalp is to hormone changes and the type of hairs you have transferred.
